In the Sala de los Reyes, next to the Patio de los Leones, some paintings show the Nasrid sultans next to branches of myrtle in bloom.
Arab agronomists and botanists of the XNUMXth century affirmed that it came to form large bushes with heights that, in landscaped areas of the Generalife, came to compete with the large trees.
