We present our "Amparo Gold Pendant" from the "Amulet" collection, a series of pieces that evoke different symbols mythologized in popular culture. All of them have supernatural virtues: they attract good luck, protect and initiate the wearer into mystery. Amulets are some of the oldest objects created by humanity since people found in them the way to escape from the evils that plagued them, whether physical, moral or spiritual.
Our collection of amulets is based on this superstitious folklore root and reflects some of these ideas from our own point of view.
The “Amparo” series represents a hand of Fatima or “Hamsa”. It is a symbol that represents protection and prevention from the evil eye and bad energies, and also provides fidelity, love or loyalty. In our interpretation, it appears accompanied by an eye and a lotus flower.
There are numerous legends about where the original Hand of Fatima comes from. The most famous story of the amulet tells how a woman (Fatima), daughter of the prophet Mohammed, while preparing a soup, watched as her husband came home with another woman. Fatima was so in pain that, without realizing it, she dipped her hand into the pot. It didn't hurt, it didn't burn. When she finally realized what had happened, it was her husband himself who treated the burns on Fatima's hand, but her heart was already wounded and nothing could heal it. Since then, the hand has become a symbol of fidelity, purity and protection for women.
Christianity considers the Hand of Fatima to represent the belief that there is only one God and that any other would be considered a legend. In the Jewish religion, the Hand of Fatima is also known as the Hand of Miriam. Although the use of amulets is prohibited in the Jewish world, because they are considered magic and are frowned upon in this culture, the Hamsa is an exception that represents protection against envy or bad luck. The symbol of the Hand of Fatima is said to represent the five pillars of Islam, which are faith, prayer, fasting, charity and pilgrimage.. The hand is also a symbol of protection and is often used to ward off evil spirits.

As a general recommendation, the ideal would be to store the jewelry in the original box that you will receive with your order since its chemical composition guarantees the preservation of your jewelry against external agents such as humidity and this will make it always look like new.
At PLATÓNICA, most of our collections have a matte finish that can be recovered on silver pieces with a silver cleaning liquid sold in drugstores. In the case of gold-plated silver jewelry, rather than cleaning we could talk about precautions in use. Our gold-plated silver pieces contain a three-micron coating, which makes them durable and does not require special maintenance. However, all products that contain alcohol attack the gold plating and can shorten its durability, so we recommend taking special caution with colognes, creams and soaps.
